Beyond history books, Dukla has inspired literature. The writer wrote a book titled Dukla , which is less of a traditional plot and more of a sensory meditation on the town. After the war, the name "Dukla" was adopted by several sports clubs across Czechoslovakia to honor those who fell at the pass.

The battle was so devastating that the area became known as the "Valley of Death".
