As the number began to tick down rapidly, Elias realized the "Ad" hadn't downloaded a file into his phone. It had downloaded him into the network. Outside, the real world began to pixelate, the sky turning that same bruised violet.

The notification arrived at 3:14 AM:

The video wasn’t an advertisement for a product. It was a fixed-angle shot of his own bedroom, taken from the corner where his ceiling fan met the wall. In the footage, Elias saw himself sitting on the edge of his bed, staring at his phone in real-time. As the number began to tick down rapidly,

Elias looked up at the corner of his room. There was no camera—only a spiderweb and a faint layer of dust. He looked back at the screen. In the video, a figure was now standing directly behind him.
