The number of unique robots increased from 14 in the first film to over 60 , with more than double the screen time and movement complexity.

Key action sequences, such as the forest battle and the Egyptian desert climax, were filmed using IMAX 70mm cameras . These scenes were rendered at eight times the resolution of standard 35mm film.

Rendering the character was so intensive that it reportedly caused one of ILM’s render nodes to overheat and melt .
