"Easy now," a voice said. Link opened his eyes to see a young woman with a red ribbon in her hair and a look of gentle concern. "I’m Marin. You’re on Koholint Island."
Finally, with all eight instruments in hand, Link stood before the giant egg atop Mt. Tamaranch. He played the song. The shell cracked, and after a final, harrowing battle against the Shadow Nightmares, the Wind Fish—a majestic, flying whale—opened its eyes.
"Hoo-hoo! Hero, you have arrived," the owl hooted. "But know this: Koholint is but a dream of the Wind Fish. Should he wake, the island and all who dwell here shall vanish like mist in the morning sun." The Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening (NSP)(Jueg...
As Link recovered his strength, he realized something was deeply wrong. The island was a paradise, yes, but it felt… fragile. When he retrieved his sword from Toronbo Shores, a mysterious owl descended from the trees, its eyes gleaming with ancient knowledge.
The wind howled against the hull of the small sailing boat, a fragile splinter of wood tossed upon the churning turquoise of the Great Sea. Link, the hero of Hyrule, gripped the mast as a bolt of lightning split the sky. The last thing he saw before the mast snapped was a colossal, egg-shaped mountain looming through the mist. "Easy now," a voice said
To leave, Link had to collect the eight Instruments of the Sirens hidden in deep, monster-infested dungeons. As he journeyed, he grew closer to the islanders. He played the "Ballad of the Wind Fish" with Marin on her harp, watching her look out at the sea with a longing she couldn't explain. She wanted to be a seagull, she told him, so she could fly across the ocean and sing for everyone.
Link found himself drifting on a piece of wreckage in the middle of a calm, empty ocean. Koholint was gone. Marin was gone. But as he looked up into the bright blue sky, a lone seagull soared overhead, singing a melody that sounded suspiciously like a ballad. You’re on Koholint Island
The weight of his quest began to press on his heart. Every nightmare he defeated brought him closer to the truth: to "save" himself and the Wind Fish, he would have to destroy the only world Marin had ever known.
