Padgett left her workplace, Duck Duck Goose Child Care, during her lunch break to use a fax machine at her mother and stepfather's home because her office machine was malfunctioning.

Her white Subaru was found abandoned in a Dollar General parking lot less than a mile from her stepfather's home. Her keys and cellphone were still inside.
