In the original Indigo League series (Season 1), episode 49, "A Chansey Operation," Ash rushes a choking Pikachu to a human doctor, Dr. Proctor, whom he convinces to treat Pokémon. While at the hospital, they cross paths with injured Team Rocket members, and the diligent Chansey assistants help save the day, leading Dr. Proctor to appreciate the importance of caring for all creatures before Ash and his friends proceed on their journey toward Cinnabar Island.
