Cerebus, the aardvark, finds himself—through a series of unfortunate, drunken, and entirely selfish decisions—appointed as the High Priest of the massive, labyrinthine temple of the Supreme Creator. He doesn't believe in the Creator. He believes in money, wine, and being left alone.

Cerebus looks at the massive crowd, then at the bustling, profitable market across the street. He grins—that familiar, malicious, tiny-toothed grin.
