Andrew Sterling, a wealthy, Pulitzer Prize-winning Black author, moves into a luxury vacation home in a predominantly white island community in New England. One evening, while Andrew is simply setting up his new stereo system, his neighbors mistake him for a burglar and call the police.

However, the plan falls apart as Amos and Andrew begin to talk. They realize the Chief’s ultimate solution to the problem is for both of them to die in a final gun battle, leaving no witnesses to the truth.
