(2013) is a harrowing German biographical drama that depicts the eight-year ordeal of Natascha Kampusch , an Austrian girl kidnapped at age 10 and held captive in a secret basement cell. The film opens on March 2, 1998, as Natascha is abducted by Wolfgang Přiklopil while walking to school in Vienna. For the next 3,096 days (roughly eight and a half years), she is confined to a soundproof, 6-square-meter dungeon hidden beneath his garage. The narrative follows her transformation from a terrified child into a resilient young woman who eventually seizes an opportunity to escape on August 23, 2006.
